Ask the Accountant…
Question: Do You Know Where Your Order History Is?
Answer: I have been working with OrderMaster users recently, because this software system is no longer supported by the manufacturer and the software is crashing.
Hundreds of distributors have been using OM for as long as 20 years. It is now failing because it no longer functions with newer technologies, and years of order history and other data are being lost.
As I transition these distributors into QuickBooks Premier, I am reminded of the security provided by a software product that has a solid footing and will be here for the long term, like QuickBooks.
But even better, the QB Premier product and your data are stored on your computer. You own it. If you were to switch to another system, you keep your order history as long as you keep the software on your computer.
There are many order management software packages out there, but many keep your order history in their system. If you stop paying for the service, or the company goes out of business, or they stop supporting their software, your data and order history are gone.
When considering a new order management and accounting system, be sure to consider where your data and order history will be stored.
